Valley Falls Dragon Grant Haag Continues Strong Year as Dragons Find Stride
Grant Haag

After a 2-4 start to the season the Valley Falls Dragons seem to have found themselves, as they are now 8-4 on the season and currently riding a six-game winning streak, which includes winning the Oskaloosa Invitational last week.

One guy that has been a model of consistency for the Dragons on the court all season from the onset of the season is senior, Grant Haag. Haag has posted double figures in 10 of the teams 12 games and helped paced the way for a talented team.

Valley Falls last week just like many other teams hit the court in mid-season tournament action and at the end of the week notched a 3-0 week and won the Oskaloosa Invitational. The Dragons opened the tournament up in pool play beating Perry Lecompton 49-47, a game in which Haag posted a season high 22 points to lead the team. The senior followed that up with a 14 point performance in a 58-49 win over Cornerstone, pushing the Dragons to the finals of the tournament. In the finals Haag only registered six points, but had the biggest bucket of the ballgame hitting the game winner with one-second left in overtime to lift the Dragons to the 59-58 win.

On the season, Grant is posting 14.2 ppg and 8 rpg, while shooting 61% from the floor and 70% from the free throw line. He also leads the team in charges drawn with seven, something he takes tremendous pride in, being a strong player both offensively and defensively.

The Dragons have their sights set on another NEKL title and more and with momentum on their side Valley Falls looks to continue their trend upward and make a strong push the rest of the season.
