Holton Wildcat, Lucas Lovvorn Wins Second Straight State Wrestling Title
Lucas Lovvorn

Even with all the recent and overall success for the Holton Wildcat wrestling program, one thing hadn’t happened since 2005-2006 - and that was an individual winning back-to-back State titles.  This year, that feat was accomplished by senior, Lucas Lovvorn.

Lovvorn started the Class 4A State tournament by laying claim to victory in his opening round matchup at 160 pounds by 6-0 decision and followed that up with a 9-3 decision win to earn a spot in the Semifinals. In the Semifinals, that bouts got a bit closer but Lovvorn picked up the 3-1 decision win to move into the Championship bout where he captured the State title with a 12-5 win. The Holton senior finished his final season on the mats for the Wildcats with a 44-1 record and helped his team place third in Class 4A, while he also spent the season ranked number one by the KWCA at 160lbs and allowed only 28 points scored against him all season.

Throughout his career on the mat, Lucas has performed well and closes his Holton wrestling career well decorated as a three time State placer and qualifier, with two State titles and a fourth place finish. Lovvorn finishes his high school career 148-21 on the mats for Holton and not only having three top notch individual State finishes, but helped Holton claim two team State titles during his career.

The future looks bright for Lucas as he has the opportunity to continue his wrestling career at the collegiate level.  Lovvorn was also selected this week to participate in the Metro Classic Championships at Kansas City, Kansas Community College on Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30 PM.
