Centralia Panthers Volleyball Team Finishes Season as 1A-DI State Runner-Up

The Centralia lady Panthers had another banner year on the volleyball court making a trip to State for the 25th year in school history and capped off the season as 1A-Division I State runner-up.

State tournament opened up for the Panthers with pool play action and Centralia picked up straight set wins over LaCrosse, Thunder Ridge and Hoxie. In the Semifinals the Panthers downed Waverly in straight sets to earn a bid into the Championship match for the third straight year. Centralia squared off against the same team from the previous year’s Championship match in Goessel, but this time Goessel picked up the three set win, giving Centralia a State runner-up finish.

On the year Centralia played a total of 86 sets and only lost 6 total sets on their way to a 42-2 record. The Panthers reigned atop the Twin Valley League yet again winning the regular season title and the tournament title, while also winning the Hiawatha, Wabaunsee and Valley Falls Invites.

Seniors, Chelsea Huerter and Mayda Stallbaumer each earned All-State tournament team honors, along with junior, Cassidy Haufler. While the rest of the team were all key parts to the success of the Panthers this year with seniors, Drew Kramer, Tara Bergman, Kori McNally, Kaci McNally, Taylor Flentie and Logan Whetzal all doing their part. Juniors, Breanna Hasenkamp and Sadi Boyce made impacts, as did sophomore, Katie Glatczak.

The Panthers finished off another great volleyball season as one of the top teams in Class 1A-DI, capping the year as State runner-up.
