Valley Falls Dragons Dominating Opponents On Way to 13-0 Record
Valley Falls Lady Dragons Basketball Team

A 22-4 record and fourth place finish at State in Class 2A that is what the Valley Falls lady Dragons basketball team accomplished last year. This year with basically that same team back the Dragons have been dominating the competition and are off to a 13-0 start and have their sights set on another Northeast Kansas League title and deep postseason run.

The Dragons, the number two ranked team in Class 2A by the KBCA, most recently picked up the JCN Invitational mid-season tournament title as they cruised past Osawatomie 59-12 in the first round, beat Perry Lecompton 44-22 in the Semifinals and took down Rossville in their toughest game of the year, winning 54-50 in overtime in the Championship. Valley Falls also beat Pleasant Ridge in NEKL play on Monday to move to 13-0 on the season.

A team filled with eight seniors has been cruising to wins, picking up a win this season on average by 30 points, while holding 11 of 13 opponents to under 25 points and five teams to under 20 points this year. On top of suffocating defense the Dragons are balanced offensively with a quintet of players including seniors, Ali Brown, Callie Watson, Sydney Gish and Jenna Kramer along with sophomore, Rachel Frakes are averaging 10 to seven points per game.

Head Coach, Todd Gish has the girls rolling and Coach and his players have their sights set on another unbeaten run through the NEKL (won 27-straight NEKL games) and a charge through the postseason to make a return to the State tournament.
