Valley Heights Mustang Dynamic Duo of Roepke & Smith Pouring in the Points
Brandi Jo Roepke & Kayla Smith

The season started a little rocky with a 1-4 start but since then the lady Mustangs of Valley Heights have won 11 of their last 12 games and six-straight. Playing through the dynamic duo and finding the right formula defensively the Mustangs have put things together this season to sit at 12-4 on the year.

That dynamic duo leading the charge is senior, Brandi Jo Roepke and sophomore, Kayla Smith who have been pouring in the points this season.

The Mustangs last week picked up a pair of road wins beating Blue Valley-Randolph 61-42 and Troy 53-39 with Roepke and Smith leading the charge. Roepke poured in a season high 34 points against Blue Valley, while Smith followed that up with 20 points and against Troy the duo posted 25 and 22, respectively.

On the year Roepke the Washburn University commit has been back to form after a ACL injury last year as she has been eating up defense’s for 26.6 points per game, while filling the rest of the stat sheet with 8.4 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, 1.8 steals per game and shooting 47.5% from the floor. Smith is following up a strong freshman year with an exceptional sophomore campaign averaging 20.9 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 49.4% from the floor.

The impressive numbers don’t stop for the duo as Roepke as scored double figures in every game this season with 20-plus points in 11 games and 30-plus in seven of the teams 16 contests. While, Smith has recorded double digits in 15 of the 16 games this year and 20-plus points in 10 contests.
