ACCHS Tiger, Hunter Ostertag Wrestles His Way to State For Fourth Time
Hunter Ostertag

To make the State tournament once in your career is a strong feat but to accomplish that all four years of competition that is impressive. ACCHS Tiger senior, Hunter Ostertag is headed to the Class 3-2-1A State wrestling tournament for the fourth time in his high school career on the mats after winning the 138lbs weight class at the Wabaunsee Regionals.

Ostertarg opened Regionals with a quick pinfall win in 42 seconds in the first round and then won in the Quarterfinals in just 40 seconds by pinfall. In the Semifinals the Tiger senior edged his opponent by a 6-5 decision to move in the Championship bout where Ostertag won via a 8-0 major decision to take the 138lbs Regional title and qualify for State.

On the year Ostertag carries a 32-3 record on the mats in all competition winning the Big Seven League title at 138lbs and also taking first at the Rossville and Eudora Invitationals, while placing second at the Junction City Invite.

Experience at State is something Ostertag has plenty of taking fifth place last year at 132lbs in Class 3-2-1A, while he claimed the State title at 120lbs his sophomore year and as a freshman finished second at 106lbs.

The ACCHS senior looks to cap off a stellar high school wrestling career with another top notch performance at State as he will hit the mats one final time in his school career in Hays for the 3-2-1A State tournament on February 24th and 25th.
