Marysville Bulldog, Jacob Mintzmyer Caps Wrestling Career With State Title

Back-to-Back State titles to cap off a career that marks the winningest wrestler in school history that is what Marysville Bulldog senior, Jacob Mintzmyer accomplished by winning the Class 3-2-1A State wrestling 170lbs State title last week.

Mintzmyer who went through the regular season undefeated finished that way after going 4-0 at State to win the 170lbs title for the second straight year. In the first round the Bulldog senior took out his opponent in just nine seconds by pinfall and then followed that up with a pinfall win in the second round in 2:37. Next up was the Semifinals were Mintzmyer picked up a 14-1 major decision win and then went on to win the Championship bout with a 9-4 decision. Mintzmyer’s State title along with four other medalists and 10 State qualifiers helped Marysville as a team take third at State.

He finished the season 42-0 setting a school record for the most wins in a single season. Over the course of the season Mintzmyer took first place at seven different tournaments and helped his team win six of the seven and finish second at the other.

The three-time State qualifier finishes his career with a pair of 3-2-1A State titles at 170lbs his senior and junior year, while competing at State his sophomore year and also became the winningest wrestler in school history in the process.
