Hanover Wildcat Girls Basketball Team Repeats as Class 1A-DI State Champions

Entering last year the Hanover Wildcat girls basketball program had been at State five times but never made it out of the first round the last two seasons the Wildcats are 6-0 at State and back-to-back Class 1A-DI State Champions. 

Hanover entered this year's State tournament looking to defend their State title from last year and the road to the repeat didn't start easy as the Wildcats faced fellow Twin Valley League school Frankfort in the first round and trailed most of the game. The Wildcats fought back and kept it close to ultimate snatch the 50-47 win. Macy Doebele and Tianna Lohse led Hanover in the win with 24 and 18 points, respectively. 

In the Semifinals the number one seed and undefeated South Central stood in front of Hanover. It was a tight contest but the Wildcats handle business and handed South Central their first loss of the season winning 54-46. Doebele posted a double-double to lead Hanover with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Claire Zarybnicky scored 14 points and Lohse chipped in 10 points. 

After trailing by two-points at the half in the Championship Hanover posted a 22-2 third quarter to cruise to the 48-28 win over St. Paul and claim the Class 1A-DI State title for the second straight year. Doebele notched another double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Zarybnicky scored 14 points and Lohse tallied 11 points. 

Hanover wrapped up the season with a 21-3 record and repeated as the Class 1A-DI State Champions.
