Ashley Annan

League foe after league foe, after league foe fell at the hands of the Sabetha Bluejays last week as the lady Bluejays earned wins over Nemaha Valley, Royal Valley and Perry Lecompton for a 3-0 week, improving their overall record to 11-4 on the year.

Senior, Ashley Annan has been posting big numbers all year for the Bluejays with her 14 ppg and 9 rpg average this season and that didn’t stop this past week as she paced Sabetha to the win every night last week.

Tuesday the Bluejays swept the season series against Nemaha Valley with a 47-44 win on the road they squeaked out. Ashley was the key piece in the game that tipped the game in favor of her squad as she registered a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds. Annan biggest contribution perhaps was in the fourth quarter down the stretch as she registered nine of her 16 points and nine of the teams 12 points in the quarter.

Annan took over on Thursday night against Royal Valley as she went to another level, having maybe the best game of her career with 22 points in the 53-30 win over the Panthers. While the 22 points is outstanding, Ashley most eye popping stat of the night was the fact she was perfect on the night, not missing a shot. She was flat out on point going 10-10 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line.

Ashley and Sabetha turned around the next night and made light work of Perry Lecompton, 48-29. Annan nearly recorded another double-double with 21 points and nabbing nine rebounds in the win.

On the week, Annan just plain was feeling it shooting a blistering 83% from the floor (25-30 field goals) and 9-12 form the free throw line (75%).

Shouldering the load, Annan has been integral part of the Bluejays success all season as she leads the Big Seven in scoring and ranks at the top of the league in field goal percentage, while also ranking in the top five in offensive and defensive rebounds.

Sabetha looks to continue to make noise on the court and win games this season and senior, Ashley Annan while be one of the biggest parts to that success with her stellar play.
