Oskaloosa Bear, Jared Miller Having Strong Year to Lead Bears Baseball to Great Season
Jared Miller

After a trip to the State tournament for the first time in program history the Oskaloosa Bears baseball team was eager to get this season underway with a core group of guys back from last year and the season is going well.

The Bears are off to a 16-0 start this season including a pair of wins most against Doniphan West (3-2 & 18-3) on Monday, April 30th and a sweep of Pleasant Ridge (19-4 & 7-1) last week.

Helping lead the way this season is senior, Jared Miller as he’s been a catalyst all year helping lead to the Bears success this season. Miller last week against Pleasant Ridge had a monster game one going 2-2 with a home run, double and seven RBI, while also getting on base by a walk and hit by pitch in the 19-4 win. The senior posted a 1-3 performance in game two of the doubleheader with Pleasant Ridge.

On the season prior to the games with Doniphan West, Miller had a .600 batting average and recorded 24 hits in the first 14 games of the season with 28 RBI’s. He added 13 walks on the season, with four doubles, a home run and pair of runs scored.

Miller was a key piece of the Bears 15-7 team last year that won Regionals in Class 3A to earn a trip to State for the first time in school history. With his teammates, Miller and company look to continue to build upon the strong play and great performance this season to make another run in the postseason.
