Valley Falls Junior Jaci Brinker Has Dragons on Pace to Win a Fifth Straight NEKL Volleyball Championship
Jaci Brinker

The high school volleyball season is a little over midway through the season and so far has been highly competitive around the Northeast Kansas League.

The Valley Falls Dragons are off to a strong start holding the top overall spot with a league record of 6-2 and an overall record of 17-3.

A big reason to the success of the Dragons this past week was the play of junior Jaci Brinker.

This past week, Brinker recorded 6 aces, 66 kills, 6 blocks, 32 digs and a 46 percent kill percentage in four wins over ACCHS, Oskaloosa and Santa Fe Trail.

She has been running ragged over the Northeast Kansas League so far this season, racking up 17 aces, 204 kills out of 464 hitting attempts good for a 44 percent kill percentage, 15 blocks and 106 digs.

While playing on the Valley Falls volleyball team Brinker also plays club volleyball, currently for a team out of Topeka called Kansas Networks Shazam 17-1.

Last season Brinker was outstanding being named to the Northeast Kansas League first team, leading the Dragons to a 30-7 record and fourth straight league championship while also leading the team in kills with 326.

Brinker and the Dragons will look to continue their success and capture a fifth straight Northeast Kansas League title with just a little over three weeks left in the regular season.
