Oskaloosa Senior Hunter Reed Scores 27 in Season Debut Win Over ACCHS
Hunter Reed

Heading into the first game of a new season coaches often don’t quite know what they are going to have so they rely on their upperclassman to step up and lead the way.

For the Oskaloosa boys basketball team and coach Jeremy Rockhold, that was the case Friday night as senior point guard Hunter Reed opened up the year with a 27-point outing in a 68-38 win on the road at ACCHS.

Reed, a first team all-NEKL selection from a year ago, was spectacular in every facet of the game. He drilled three 3-pointers, while he was also able to use his speed and athleticism to get in the lane and draw fouls as he nailed 4 of 5 shots from the free throw line.

The most impressive feat of Reed’s outing was the fact that it was his first game back since missing all of last season with an injury.

He picked up right where he left off two years ago, as in his sophomore season he averaged 12 points per game and had a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.

Reed and the Bears will look to continue their strong start to the season this week, as Oskaloosa will host Jeff County North Tuesday night and travel to Pleasant Ridge to round of the week on Friday.
