28th Annual Panther Relays Held at Mound City

 The team titles for the 28th annual Panther Relays go to the Mound City girls and the St. Joe Christian boys.

Last Friday the Lady Panthers scored 121 points, more than 40 points ahead of second place Worth County with 79.5.  Rock Port was third with 77. DeKalb was 4th with 72, North Andrew 5th, Nodaway-Holt was 6th  South Holt was 11th, Craig –Fairfax was 13th in the 14 team field.

The Lions scored 108 points to edge Rock Port by two points on the boys side.  Mound City was third with 99 followed by Worth County.  Tarkio was 6th,  Nodaway-Holt was 11th and South Holt 12th. 

Rock Port junior Eric Duncan scored 40 points for the Blue Jays winning the long jump, triple jump, 100 meters and the high jump.  In the high jump he set a new meet record clearing 6’6”.

Gage Lemmon won the 1600 meters for the Blue Jays. 

Other winners in boys events were Elijah Poe of Mound City in the pole vault;  the Panthers 4 x 800 meter team of Brett Johnson, Josh Johnson, Dayne Messer and Spencer Staples.;  The Panther 4 x 200 relay team of Messer, Kase Newcombe, Luke Sanders and Staples; Brett Johnson, Messer, Newcombe and Thomas Shifflett teamed up to win the 4 x 100 relay.  The Panthers completed the relay sweep when Dalton Dreher, Brett Johnson, Messer and Staples won the 4 x 400 relay. 

John Lang of Tarkio won the 3200 meters.

For the girls Nodaway-Holt junior Megan Rosenbohm won the 400 and 200 meters along with the triple jump while placing second in the long jump.

Taya Lewis of Rock Port won the discus.  

Mound City girls won a majority of the events. Emily Wedlock won the long jump, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles and ran a leg of the winning 4 x 400 meter race.

Joining Wedlock in the 4 x 400 relay were Haylee Clifton, Alex Phillips and Mae Sanders.

The Panther 4 x 200 relay team of Clifton, Carina Metzgar, Grace Newcomb and Phillips were winners. 

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Clifton, Kendey Eaton, Jessica Johnson and Mae Sanders also won gold.  

Phillips won the pole vault and Kendey Eaton was the winner in the 3200 to go along with a second place finish in the 1600.
