Holton Boys & Girls Win ACCHS Track Invite (Full Results)

Finally the weather cooperated and ten area schools and 11 overall it the track and competed in the ACCHS Invitational early this week.

The Holton Wildcats came out on top at the end of the days competition grabbing both the boys and girls team top finishes. In the girls competition it was a tight battle between the top teams as Holton eeked out a one-point win over Jefferson County North, as they were the only two girls teams to register of 100 points, has third was over 70 points behind them both. For the Wildcat boys they took home the team title a little easier than the girls amassing 156 total points over 40 points better than second place Jefferson County North who domianted the track meet with Holton.

In the girls competition, ACCHS, Horton and McLouth rounded out the top five teams performances in that order, while on the boys side it was Horton, Valley Falls and McLouth rounding out the top five team performances.

On their way to first place as a team the Holton Wildcats were led by eight first places in all the events on the day with the relay teams, Brylee New and Connor Strader leading the way with a pair of golds. The Wildcats ran to the tune of 53.00 and 4:21.56 to win both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays, respectively. For, New she sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, behind times of 13.18 and 27.89. Strader continued the winning in the running events taking home the 400 and 800 meter runs crowns with times of 59.00 and 2:32.00.

Wildcats, did take home a pair of field event wins, too with Krystie Miller winning the the shot put (35-00) and Hanah Suarez taking home the triple jump (30-11.50) title.

Second place team the JCN Chargers took home four first place finishes in the girls competition with Hannah Twenhafel leading the way sweeping the hurdles, taking the 100 and 300 crowns with times of 17.18 and 51.00. The other two first place finishes cam in the field events with Laramie Leakey winning the pole vault (7-00) and Heather Polson taking the high jump (5-02).

Atchison, Troy, Horton and ACCHS split the other four first place finishes on the day in the ACCHS Invite. For the Lady Red of Atchison it was a win in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:36.12, nearly 30 seconds better than second place. Troy was lead by Holly Whetstine who did her damage in the field events leaping to the long jump win (16-01), while Horton's win also came in the field competition's with Mariah Hisle winning the discus (99-09). For the host's, the ACCHS Tigers they saw Maddison Bissel win the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:41, 17 seconds better than second place.

In the boys competition it was Holton and JCN again as they only two schools with more than two first place finishes on the day.

The Wildcats lead the way with seven first place finishes with Jaxon Wright and the Relay teams leading the way with a pair of gold's each. For Wright he continued to sweep the hurdles competition winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, yet again this season this time with times of 15.25 and 41.00. Wildcats Relay teams took home the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay titles behind times of 45.51 and 3:38.83.

Dalton Colhour, Drake Ewing and Ryan Haefke took home the other three first place finishes for the Wildcats all three winning events on the track. Colhour ran his way to a win in the 800 meters (2:16.37), Ewing sprinted to the win in the 100 meter dash (11.37) and Haefke won the 400 meter run (52.00).

For the Chargers of JCN they took home a pair of field event wins and three wins in the running competitions. Robert Gould and Luke Pyle took to the field and won the pole vault and javelin for the Chargers behind marks of 9-06 and 161-00. In the running competition the Chargers relay team took home the 4x800 with a time of 9:28.00, while Devin Wilson and Dallas Edwards won the 3200 (11:36.00) and 1600 (4:57.00) meter runs, respectively.

The only other boys schools that took home a pair of wins came from Horton and McLouth. For the Horton Chargers it was Trey Dishon tossing his way to wins in the discus (140-00) and shot put (45-00.50). For the Bulldogs, Dakota Cop took home golds in both the 200 meter dash (23.90) and leapt to a win in the triple jump (40-03), also.

Oskaloosa Bear, Justin Sharp and ACCHS Tiger, Jacob Hansen took home the other two gold's as they won the high jump (6-02) and long jump (20-08), respectively.

Mother nature finally cooperated and many area teams showcased their talents as part of the ACCHS Invitational.
