Hiawatha Redhawk Football Star, Peyton Newell Narrows College Choices to Final Four

It might be summer time but football is on the mind of many already and its on the mind of a premier football star in the area in Hiawatha Redhawk, Peyton Newell (Rivals.com profile) who has a looming decision to make on where he will continue his football career at the colliegate level.

Newell set the date to announce his decision for August 3rd at the Hiawatha High school, but in the mean time he as narrowed his list of over 30 scholarship offers down to his final four. He previous narrowed his list down to six but has eliminated Geogria and USC from that list, making his final four Nebraska, South Carolina, Kansas and Kansas State.

Peyton had quite a decision on his hand as 30 plus schools had their eyes on the defensive end as he garnered scholarship offers from the likes of: UCLA, California, Colorado, Arizona State, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, TCU, Iowa State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Penn State, Tulsa, BYU, Duke, North Carolina State, Clemson, Missouri and Vanderbilt on top of his finalists.

The 6'3, 280lb senior to be defensive end put continued to put himself on the map last year helping the Redhawks to an 8-3 record and their first playoff since 2001, as they took down Nemaha Valley in round one of the Class 3A playoffs. Newell in the process of Hiawatha's successful season set a pair of school records totaling 37 tackles for loss and 10 sacks just last season, while he has compiled 135 total tackles over the last two seasons.

His great season earned him All-Class 3A in Kansas and picked him up 2012 MaxPreps Junior All-American honors, also.

Three-star prospect, Newell comes into his senior year ranked as the fifteenth best strongside defensive end in the country and the four best prospect in the state of Kansas; the highest ranked defensive player in the state.

Four college football teams and fanbases await the announcement of Newell as he will announce his decision on August 30th.
