It was another season to remember for the Highland Community College lady Scotties basketball program going 33-3 and finishing as national runner-up in the NJCAA Division II tournament.

A key part to the success of the Scotties was sophomore, Ryann Bowser who plans on continuing her basketball career at the NCAA Division I level next season as she will transfer to Texas Tech University and become a Lady Red Raider.

Bowser was a jack-of-all-trades this season for the Scotties providing them with scoring and much more as she posted 9.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.5 spg during the season, while shooting 43.5% from the floor and 34.8% from three-point land, with 15 blocks, also. The Holton native finished the season moving her game up another notch scoring double figures in six of the final seven games for the Scotties on the season she only had 13 double figure scoring games. During the season her highest scoring game was her only double-double of the season too, as she posted 27 points and 10 rebounds against Southeast Nebraska.

Ryann helped the Scotties improve upon a fifth place finish at the national tournament her freshman season to their second place finish this year as they fell to Mesa (AZ) in overtime in the national championship game. Bowser posted double figures in three of the four tournament games with her best game coming in the semifinal win over St. Clair County in which she led the team with 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds and had five steals.

On the season the individual accolades piled in for Ryann as she was named honorable mention All-Conference in the KJCCC DII Eastern Division, first team All-Region VI and was also named to the NJCAA DII All-tournament team.

Bowser looks to continue her basketball success at the Division I level next year in Lubbock, Texas as she will look to help the Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders improve upon a 6-24 record from the 2013-14 season and winless Big 12 record.
