Atchison boy's tennis team opened up the season competing at the Immaculata Invitational and grabbed a fifth place finish in the tournament back on Tuesday, highlighted by a first place showing in one of the doubles competition for the Redmen.
Karl Dolenz and Colton Wienmann headlined the Redmen tennis performances on the day as they registered a 4-0 record in the doubles #2 competition claiming the tournament championship in that competition.
The doubles tandem of Wade Gassmann and Spencer Walker competed in the doubles #1 competition and posted a fifth place finish going 2-2 on the day with wins over Hiawatha and Marysville.
In singles competition it was Jason Defisher and Lance Ernzen competing for Atchison in singles #1 and #2 competition, respectively. Both worked themselves to a 1-3 record on the day, each earning a seventh place finish for Atchison.
Atchison hits the court again on Friday as the travel to Topeka to play Hayden in competition.
