The honors continue to roll in for the Highland Scotties women's basketball program as three players were named NJCAA Division II All-Americans after another stellar season by the Highland program which saw them finish as national runner-up in the NJCAA DII tournament and finish 33-3 on the season.

A big part of the success the Scotties enjoyed this season was due to the trio sophomores in Julia Alves, Ashley Torres and Ryann Bowser who earned first, second and third team All-American honors, respectively after helping the Scotties to their 33-3 season and national runner-up, second place finish.

Alves paced the Scotties on the season leading the team in both scoring and rebounding as she averaged nearly a double-double on the year with 14 ppg and 9 rpg. Julia added 1.2 apg and 2.3 spg to her game throughout the year and was a consistent shooter for the Scotties shooting 52.8% from the floor, helping her earn first team All-American honors.

Torres earned second team All-American honors after posting 11.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.7 spg. Ashley was the only other play outside of Alves to average double figures for the Scotties on the season and provide consistent energy for Highland all year, while shooting 45.4% from the floor on the season.

Holton native, Ryann Bowser earned third team All-American honors after a strong sophomore season for the Scotties. Ryann posted 9.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.5 spg on the year, while shooting 43.5% from the floor and 34.8% from three-point land. Bowser led the team in both assists (125) and steals (91) on the season and plays on continuing her basketball career at Division I level at Texas Tech, next year.

Scotties will look build upon the past three years success and appearances in the national tournament the last two years, next season as they will look for contribution from multiple gals having to step up and fill the void of the sophomores, moving on.
