Perry Lecompton Boys & Girls Win Home Track Meet, As Atchison & Immaculata Competed

The Perry Lecompton Kaws dominated there home meet with four other teams competing including Atchison and Immaculata from the area.

The Kaws girls took home first place as as team by 76 points over Basehor-Linwood who took second, while Atchison finished third, Wellsville placed fourth and Immaculata placed fifth. The Perry boys also won by 70-plus points claiming first by 77 points as Wellsville took second, Basehor-Linwood finished third, Atchison placed fourth and Immaculata fifth in the boys competition.

On their way to their first place showing Perry Lecompton was highlighted by 17 first place showings combined by the girls and boys in the events.

For the girl's, five of their nine first place finishes came on the track with the other four in the field events. Kaylee Visser claimed the 200 meter dash title (27.91), while Halsten Coyle followed that up by winning the 400 meter run (1:07.22) and Emma Taylor won the 300 meter hurdles (50.45). The Kaws also raced to wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 54.28 and 4:34.41, respectively. In the field it was Harleigh Roberston, Taylor Fuller, Alicia Johnston and Abbi Folks each winning an event for the Kaws. Roberston won the discus (87'8), Fuller claimed the javelin title (104'2), Johnston finished first in the pole vault (8'6) and Folks won the triple jump (32'11.5).

On the boys side for the Kaws it was Colin Coleman leading the charge on the way to the Perry first place team finish. Coleman won both the 200 and 400 meter runs with times of 22.30 and 51.38. Kaws also won two of three relays posting times of 44.30 and 3:31.35 to win the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. Cody Williams sprinted his way to the 100 meter dash (11.14) win, while Blake Wingert won the 300 meter hurdles (45.30). In the field three Kaws claimed first place finishes as Deke Hanson won the discus (110'07), Austin Kurtz placed first in the javelin (11'6) and Will Hinrichson won the long jump (20'01.25).

Atchison on the day had their first place performances all on the girls side with five total wins in events, as the highest finish for the Redmen boys was a pair of third place performances. Sarah Jaloma paced the day for Atchison winning the 800 meter run (2:23.78) and 1600 meter run (5:53.82), while Akiela Gill and Lucy Newkirk both registered first places on the track, too. Gill raced to the win in the 100 meter dash (13.26) and Newkirk won the 3200 meter run (13:40.47). In the field events Harleigh Boldridge highlighted the day for Atchison winning the shot put with a toss of 33'04.5.

Immaculata despite finishing fifth as a team for both the boys and girls did see and first place performance by one boy and girl Raider competitor on the day. Jordan Sachen won the girls high jump (4'6) and RJ Portice won the boys 1600 meter run (5:16.12).
