Sabetha Wins All Three Team Competitions at Home Boy's Golf Meet, Nemaha Valley Takes Second

It was the Big Seven League tandem of Sabetha and Nemaha Valley that highlighted the day on the golf course in Sabetha on Tuesday as part of the Sabetha Invitational, competing with six other schools including Atchison, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Horton from the area.

At the end of the day it was Sabetha on top winning all three team events claiming first in the 6-man, 4-man and 2-man competitions, while Nemaha Valley took home second place in all three competitions.

In the 6-man competition the Bluejays posted a 526 on the day to take first, followed by Nemaha Valley who took home second with a 540. St. Mary's was a distant third place with a combined score of 625, while Silver Lake took fourth (642) and Hiawatha placed fifth (662); as only five schools competed with 6-man teams. 

Sabetha took home the 4-man team title by 14 strokes just like in the 6-man competition finishing with a 340 score, while Nemaha Valley shot a 354 team score good for second place. Maur Hill took home third place 34 strokes back of Sabetha finishing with a team score of 374. The rest of the 4-man team performances finished with Hiawatha taking fourth (407), St. Mary's finishing fifth (425), Silver Lake placing sixth (441) and Atchison seventh (450).

The 2-man competition was a tight battle between Sabetha and Nemaha Valley with both teams finishing with a team score of 186, but the Bluejays claimed first place via the tie breaker, which was the best individual score, giving Nemaha Valley second place. St. Mary's took home third with a 200, while Silver Lake place fourth (201), Horton finished fifth (253) and Hiawatha took sixth (255).

Individually on the day it was Atchison's, Gabe Julo taking home the best round shooting a 78 to claim first place. Sabetha Bluejay, Tyler Ulrich followed him with a 79 for second place as the he was the only other golfer on the day under 80. Nemaha Valley Raider, Cody Kramer took home third with an 84, followed by Christian Wessel of Maur Hill who placed fourth with an 85. Derek Halls of Sabetha shot an 86 to tie with Zach Bradley of Nemaha Valley but Halls took fifth via the tie-break on the scorecard, giving Bradley sixth place.
