Axtell Eagle, Audrey Schmitz Wins Riley County Invite & Frankfort's, Adam Koch Finishes 3rd

Another cold weather autumn day in early October in Kansas but that didn't deter the cross country runners competing at the Riley County Invitational this past Saturday. The race was highlighted by multiple Kanzaland area runners with their finishes on the day.

The biggest highlight of the day came at the hands of Axtell Eagle runner, Audrey Schmitz has she raced her way to a time of 15:34.98 good for a first place finish in a race that featured 88 girls racing. Audrey has enjoyed great success this season with multiple top three finishes and other first place finishes, also. Schmitz was the only Kanzaland area runner at the Riley County Invite to finish in the top 10 on the day as she took first. Although, Washington Counties, Madison Stone did place eleventh on the day.

Boys competition featured 154 runners with junior varsity included and the best finish by a Kanzaland area runner was Frankfort Wildcat, Adam Koch who finished with a time of 17:10.88 good for third place. Two other Kanzaland area runners finished in the top 10 in the boys competition as Washington County Tiger, Dylan Hodgson came in fourth place and Axtell Eagle, Tracy Schmitz placed sixth.

All the Kanzaland area teams now gear up for league meets coming up this Thursday October 11th.
