After winning the Zone 7 A tournament, Doniphan County Junior Legion team turned their sights on making noise in the Single A State tournament and that they did with a third place finish.

Doniphan County Juniors opened up the State tournament taking on Manhattan and worked out to a 10-5 lead midway through the contest, but had to get one more run to grab the 11-10 win and move on in the winner's bracket, opening State with a win.

In the second round of the winner's bracket Doniphan County dominated the defending Junior Legion champs, Paola with 9-0 win in five innings, as Cooper Leach threw a two-hit shutout.

Only one win away from playing for the State title Doniphan on Friday squared off with Andover Central and despite battling back into the game multiple times to tie it or cut into the lead, Doniphan County could never get over the hump and fell 6-5, moving them to the loser's bracket.

Assured no less than third place at State Doniphan County took on McPherson in an elimination game with the winner getting Andover Central and would need two wins to claim the State title. Doniphan County saw their run in the State tournament come to a close against McPherson with a 14-8 loss.

Doniphan County Juniors finished 2-2 at the State tournament and put a trophy in the case for Doniphan County Legion baseball.
