A pair of Northeast Kansas League teams traveled to Lyndon on Saturday to hit the volleyball court and take part in the Lyndon Invitational.

At the end of the competition it was a tale of two different outcomes for both area teams as the Valley Falls Dragons finished the day 3-2 and placing second, while Jackson Heights bowed out in pool play going 0-3 in action.

The Dragons got things started for their day in pool play going 2-1 to finish in second in the pool and move on to the Semifinals on the day. Valley Falls two wins in pool play both came in straight sets over Northern Heights (25-21, 25-13) and Burlingame (25-15, 25-11), while falling to Wabaunsee in straight sets (22-25, 23-25) that was a tight contest. Wabaunsee took first in the pool.

Valley Falls moved on to the Semifinals to take on the host of the tournament in Lyndon won went 3-0 in the other pool to advance in the tournament. The Dragons took down the host team in straight sets winning 25-18, 25-19 to advance to the Championship match where they would get another shot at Wabaunsee, after Wabaunsee won their Semifinal match 25-12, 25-10 over Lebo.

In the Championship competition, Wabaunsee took down the Dragons in straight sets again, as the Dragons wrapped up the day 3-2 in competition falling to Wabaunsee 22-25, 19-25 in the Championship.

For Jackson Heights they finished the day 0-3, falling to Marais des Cygnes Valley (25-19, 25-17), Lebo (25-23, 25-14) and Lyndon (25-7, 25-10) all in straight sets.

Both Valley Falls and Jackson Heights coming out of the tournament now quickly turn their attention back to NEKL play coming up next week.
