Eight Area Teams Ranked in Week Two KVA Volleyball Rankings

Teams have settled into the season and have plenty of action under their belt through a few weeks of play in high school volleyball. The Kansas Volleyball Association has released its Week two rankings and eight area teams are in the rankings all remaining in the rankings in their classes from last week.

Both the Twin Valley League and Big Seven League have a quartet of teams in the latest KVA rankings as Centralia, Valley Heights, Linn and Washington County are ranked for the TVL and Nemaha Central, Holton, Jeff West and Royal Valley are ranked for the Big Seven.

Class 1A-Division I continues to house three area teams in the rankings as the Centralia Panthers lead the charge for the area, remaining ranked #2 this week as they are 10-1 on the season and 6-0 in TVL play picking up a pair of wins over Linn and Frankfort on Tuesday, in their most recent action. While, Valley Heights and Linn each remained ranked this week, also the Mustangs moved down one spot to number #7, while the Bulldogs moved up a spot to #8 this week. Valley Heights is off to a 8-3 start this year and 5-1 in League play, splitting their matchups with Blue Valley-Randolph and Washington County last night (beat Blue Valley, lost to Washington County), while Linn is 9-4 on the year and 3-4 in League after falling to Centralia and Frankfort in a League triangular on Tuesday night.

Class 2A, houses the other ranked TVL team in Washington County who his undefeated on the season at 12-0 and 7-0 in TVL play after beating Valley Heights and Blue Valley-Randolph Tuesday night. The Tigers remained at number #2 this week in the 2A polls.

The Nemaha Central Thunder continue to highlight the rankings in Class 3A for the area as they remained ranked at number #6 this week after a 8-3 start to the season and 3-1 mark in Big Seven play, including a sweep of Riverside on Tuesday night.

Class 4A-Division II has three area teams ranked just like Class 1A-DI, as the Big Seven trio of Holton, Jeff West and Royal Valley remained ranked this week. The Holton Wildcats lead the way remaining ranked at #3 with a 7-1 record and 5-1 mark in the Big Seven, after a sweep of Sabetha on Tuesday night. The Jeff West Tigers improved to 10-1 on Tuesday night and remained unbeaten in Big Seven play at 6-0, by sweeping Royal Valley and remained ranked #4. For the Royal Valley Panthers after a pair of losses on Tuesday they moved to 5-6 on the season and 2-4 in League play, but remain in the rankings at #10 in 4A-DII.

The volleyball season continues for a few area teams on Thursday and several teams will compete in tournaments over the weekend.
