The Holton Wildcats took to the volleyball court for the first time this year in tournament action as they travelled to the Rossville Invitational and posted a 2-3 record on the day to take sixth place.
Pool play is where Holton picked up their wins as the Wildcats went 2-2 in pool play action. Wildcats won in straight sets against El Dorado, 25-13, 25-13, while needing three sets to gain the win over Rossville 27-29, 25-12, 25-23. In the other two competitions in pool play action Clay Center and Tonganoxie both handed Holton a loss in straight sets; Clay Center beat Holton 25-18, 25-21 and Tonganoxie won 25-17, 25-23.
After going 2-2 in pool play action Holton matched up against Wamego in the fifth place match on the day and would take the three set loss, falling 25-20, 23-25, 25-21 to finish the Rossville Invitational 2-3 and sixth place.
With the 2-3 performance, Holton moves to 9-4 on the season and will get back to Big Seven League play this week when they host Hiawatha on Tuesday.
