Falls City Boys, Mound City Girls, win Rock Port XC Invite

(KTNC)--The Falls City Boys and Mound City girls were the team champions of the Rock Port Cross Country Invitational Tuesday. The Falls City boys won with 40 points, with Pawnee City second with 59, St. Joe Christian 3rd with 75, and Rock Port 4th with 84 points. Rounding out the team standings were Clarinda, Fremont Mills, Winston R-6, and West Nodaway. Mound City and Nebraska City competed, but had no team scores. Mound City won the girls' team title with 28 points. Falls City totaled 48 points for second place, ahead of Nebraska City (59) and Mid-Buchanan (91) in the team standings. Pawnee City and Rock Port were among eight schools that did not have enough runners to record a team score. Individually, for Falls City, in the boys' race, five Tigers earned medals with top-15 finishes. They were led by Kyle Leafty's second place finish, in 18:26. Brody Smith was 11th, and he was followed in order by teammates Brandon Gibson, Anthony Baker, and Brett Black. Lainey Larsen led the Falls City girls with a 3rd place finish, in 23:18. Krystal Samqua was 8th in 24:36. Rounding out the Tiger runners were Cheyenne Dovel (18th), Morgan Roberts (20th), and Haley Liberty (29th). Falls City travels to Syracuse on Friday.
