Latest Kansas High School Rankings Released With Three Area Teams Ranked After Week Five

Five weeks into the football season and District play has started for 2-1A and 8-Man football and will open for the rest of the classes after week six action. Many Kanzaland area teams continue to perform well on the football field, while others are still looking to get things right for Districts and after five weeks three area teams find themselves ranked in at least two polls across the State.

Leading the way for the area continues to be the Hanover Wildcats who remain on the perch in 8-Man Division I, remaining ranked #1 this week across the board in all four polls across the State. The Wildcats are 5-0 and picked up a 70-22 win over Rock Hills this past week, outscoring Rock Hills 50-0 in the second half after trailing 22-20 at halftime.

At the 2-1A level the Troy Trojans continue to be the only area team getting attention on the polls but are on the outside looking in at the moment in others receiving votes category in multiple polls. The Trojans opened District play in week five with a 64-0 trouncing of Jefferson County North to improve to 4-1 on the year.

In Class 3A the Centralia Panthers are ranked at #5 in both the Kansasprepfootball.com and Topeka Capital Journal rankings, but just receiving votes in the other two. The Panthers blanked Washington County 32-0 in week five to improve to 5-0 and win the Twin Valley League 11-man title for the 16-straight year. While, Centralia has broken into a pair of the rankings five other area teams are receiving votes in polls as Nemaha Central, Horton, Oskaloosa, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and McLouth are all getting looks.

Nemaha Central suffered their first loss of the season falling to Holton 28-6 last week, moving to 4-1 on the season, while Horton ran wild on Pleasant Ridge for a 28-6 win to improve to 4-0. Oskaloosa remained unbeaten on the season picking up a 28-18 win over McLouth to improve to 5-0, while that sent McLouth to 3-2 and Maur Hill-Mount Academy suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday falling 13-12 to Christ Prep to move to 4-1.

Class 4A-Division II continues to be highlighted by the Holton Wildcats in the polls as Holton checks in at #2 in three of the four polls and #3 in the Kpreps rankings. The Wildcats took down Nemaha Central on the road 28-6 last week to move to 4-1 on the season and extend their Big Seven League game winning streak to 42-straight games.
