Eleven Area Teams Ranked in Week 6 KVA Volleyball Rankings

The volleyball season in headed into final regular season tournament action and final games of the regular season, before postseason play starts. Many area teams have been ranked all season by the Kansas Volleyball Association and in the week six rankings, 11 area teams are ranked; the most this season.

Class 4A-Divsion II in the latest rankings welcomes another area team to the Top 10 as four area teams are in the latest poll. Jeff West Tigers lead the way in the 4A-DII polls checking in at #2 again this week touting a 24-7 record, after sweeping Riverside on Tuesday for a pair of wins. Holton and Royal Valley out of the Big Seven League are also ranked checking in at #5 and #10, respectively. The Wildcats remained ranked at #5 and are 17-10 on the season, while Royal Valley rejoins the rankings this week at #10 improving to 19-12 on the year after a sweep of Hiawatha on Tuesday. The Atchison Redmen also remained in the rankings checking in at #6 again this week with a 26-9 record after sweeping KC Washington for a pair of wins on Monday.

Nemaha Central Thunder continue to remain in the Class 3A rankings as the only area team in the 3 polls, checking in at #6 as they have all season. The Thunder earned the sweep over Perry Lecompton on Tuesday night improving to 24-8 on the season.

In Class 2A the Washington County Tigers continue to be the only area team in the rankings coming in at #4 this week, falling down one spot. The Tigers wrapped up regular season action, outside of the Twin Valley League tournament on Tuesday night by picking up wins against Valley Heights and Frankfort to improve to 28-3 on the year.

The Centralia Panthers started the season ranked #1 in Class 1A-Division I, but fell to #2 and have been there most of the season until the latest poll when the Panthers have regained the #1 spot in the poll. Centralia improved to 32-1 on the year on Tuesday, by picking up wins against Doniphan West and Wetmore. Fellow TVL team in Valley Heights remained in the rankings this week but fell down to #7 in the polls, moving down from #4. The Mustangs are 20-11 on the season after beating Frankfort and taking a loss to Washington County on Tuesday. Immaculata Raiders are also in the rankings checking in at #6, moving up one spot in the latest poll and improved to 26-8 on Tuesday after picking up wins over Horton and Jefferson County North.

Two more TVL teams are ranked in the Class 1A-Division II polls and check in at #2 and #3 this week both moving up one spot in the rankings each. The Linn Bulldogs who are 22-10 on the season rank #2 and picked up wins over Axtell and Hanover on Tuesday night. For the Eagles they lost to Linn and beat Hanover on Tuesday to move to 19-13 on the season and rank at #3 this week in the latest polls. 

The regular season will all wrap up after next Tuesday as teams have one final regular season tournament or dual/triangular in the regular season, before teams fully turn their attention to postseason action.
