Atchison Dominates KCAL Cross Country Meet, Winning Girl's & Boy's Team Titles

The Atchison Redmen took to the course at Bellevue in Atchison on Thursday as they hosted the KCAL cross country meet and the Redmen dominated the competition to the tune of claiming the girl's and boys’ team League titles.

Atchison Lady Redmen got things rolling for Atchison as the girls’ team posted a perfect team score on the day with 15 points to claim the League title after grabbing the top five individual performances on the day. Leading the way as usual was Sarah Jaloma, as she raced her way to a individual League title behind a time of 16:27, while her sister, Emily Jaloma followed her in second place with a time of 17:16. The trio of Hailey Macierowski, Lyndi Hanson and Teagan Hanson finished off the Redmen's team score placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively with times of 17:51, 18:00 and 19:31. Skyler Blakely also ran for Atchison and finished eighth on the day with a time of 20:43. The girl's race featured 26 runners in the competition.

On the boy's side of competition the Redmen worked their way to a first place team finish by posting 35 points, winning by 18 points over KC Harmon. Pacing the way for the Redmen boy's was Matthew Sowers who raced his way to a second place finish behind a time of 19:19. Justin Witmer, Dallas Woolston and Alex Howard joined Sowers in the Top 10 placing fifth, seventh and eighth, respectively behind times of 20:09, 20:12 and 20:15. Spencer Vice rounded out the Atchison team performance earning 13th place with a time of 20:54. The boy's race featured 36 runners in the competition.

Atchison with League competition in the books and League trophies added to the trophy case now turn their attention to Class 4A Regional action a week from Saturday on October 25th at Wyandotte County Park.
