Only two weeks remain in the regular season of the high school football season in Kansas and plenty is still up in the air in the race for a District title and playoff spot. After seven weeks of action one thing that has remained the same is the fact two area teams continue to remain ranked across the State in their respective classes.

The 8-Man level of action touts the highest area ranked team as the Hanover Wildcats continue to dominate opponents and remain unbeaten on the season at 7-0 after beating Lakeside 68-8 last week and remain #1 across the State in all the polls at the 8-Man Division I level. At the 8-Man Division II level the Axtell Eagles who are 5-2 on the year after winning 42-14 over Pike Valley last week are getting some attention in polls.

While in Class 2-1A the Troy Trojans continue to be the only team getting looks to break into the polls across the State as the Trojans are 6-1 on the season after beating county rival Doniphan West 49-0 last week.

Class 3A has four teams still getting attention in the polls after seven weeks of action but are currently on the outside looking in at the polls. The Centralia-Wetmore Panthers, Nemaha Central Thunder, Horton Chargers and Oskaloosa Bears are all still receiving attention in polls. The Panthers are 6-1 on the season and bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 35-6 win over Nemaha Central who now is 5-2 on the year. For Horton the continued to remain unbeaten on the year after beating county rival Hiawatha 21-14 last week to improve to 6-0, while Oskaloosa took their second loss of the year falling 77-8 to Rossville, falling to 5-2.

In Class 4A-Division II the Holton Wildcats have been ranked all season as they are 6-1 after a 38-6 win over Jeff West in week seven. Wildcats continue to remain ranked second in the 4A-DII polls all across the State. While in 4A-Division I, despite suffering their first loss of the season falling 21-14 to Tonganoxie to fall to to 6-1, the Atchison Redmen are still getting attention in some of the 4A-DI polls.

With two more weeks of action left in the regular season there is still plenty left to determine for Districts and playoff spots in high school football.
