The high school volleyball regular season in Kansas has come to a close and teams now have their sights set on Sub-State competition looming this weekend. Headed into Sub-State action 11 area teams are ranked in the Top 10 in their respective classes by the Kansas Volleyball Association in the latest polls released.

Class 4A-Division II continues to house the most area teams in the Top 10 as four teams are ranked in the poll again this week. The Jeff West Tigers lead the way as they continue to be ranked second with a 25-10 record after a split with Sabetha to end the regular season this past Tuesday. While the Atchison Redmen wrapped up the regular season action with a 28-9 record and moved up in the polls this week, up two spots to #4. The Holton Wildcats finished off the regular season by sweeping Nemaha Central for a pair of wins to finish the regular season 21-12, but fell one spot in the rankings this week, down to #6. Royal Valley Panthers wrapped up their regular season last weekend with a fifth place showing at the Abilene Invite, finishing the regular season 21-14 and ranked tenth.

The Nemaha Central Thunder have remained steadfast in the Class 3A rankings all year and stayed at the same spot in the rankings all season, too as the Thunder continue to check in at #6. The regular season wrapped up for the Thunder with a pair of losses on Tuesday falling to Holton and thus moving to 29-11 on the year.

In Class 2A the Washington County Tigers moved up one spot this week in the latest polls, up to #3 after finishing the regular season by finishing second at the Twin Valley League tournament over the weekend and moving to 31-4 on the year.

Centralia Panthers regained the #1 spot in Class 1A-Division I last week and remain there this week after finishing off the regular season by winning the TVL tournament over the week to improve to 36-1 on the season. Immaculata remained ranked sixth this week after finishing off the regular season with a pair of wins over Horton and McLouth on Tuesday to improve to 28-8, while Valley Heights continued to check in at #7 with their 24-12 record after finishing third at the TVL tournament over the weekend.

Two more TVL teams remain ranked in Class 1A-Division II, also as Linn and Axtell both check in at #2 and #3 again in the polls this week, respectively. Linn wrapped up the regular season with a 24-11 record, while Axtell finished fourth at the TVL tournament and finished off the regular season 21-15.

Teams now have their eyes on the prize of a Sub-State championship and a bid to the State competition as they hit the court this weekend for Sub-State action.
