11 Area Football Players Earn All-State, While Many Others Earn Honorable Mentions Honors

The football season have come and gone and multiple Northeast Kansas area teams had solid seasons this year with a few making runs deep into the playoffs in there, respective classes. With the season now behind us the All-State honors have been handed out by multiple publications.

Eleven area athlete's hailing from the Big Seven, Twin Valley and Northeast Kansas Leagues earned All-State honors, while many others earned honorable mention honors.

In Class 4A, Holton Wildcat senior, Cooper Allen earned All-State honors at offensive line, earning the honors in both publications. Allen also was named to the Topeka Capital Journal Top 33, finishing in the third 11 group. The Holton Wildcats finished the season 9-2, making the Sectional round of the Class 4A-DII playoffs.

Class 3A had a trio of area players earn All-State honors with Centralia Panther, Joey Ferron, Sabetha Bluejay, Kegan Schumann and Horton Charger, Trey Dishon earning those honors. Ferron picked up the All-State honors at offensive line by the Capital Journal and on the defensive line from Varsity Kansas, after Centralia finished 9-2 making the Regional round of the 3A playoffs; Ferron also earned Top 33 honors from the Capital Journal, finsihing in the third 11 group. Sabetha also made the Regional round of the 3A playoffs finishing 8-3 on the year and Schumann picked up All-State honors by the Capital Journal and Varsity Kansas both at linebacker. Dishon picked up All-State honors at defensive line, getting the All-State nod by the Capital Journal after helping the Horton Chargers finish 7-2 on the year and make the 3A playoffs.

Troy and Onaga players earned All-State honors in Class 2-1A after each making the playoffs this year as Troy finished 10-2 making Sub-State and Onaga finished 9-2 and made the Sectional round of the playoffs. Troy seniors, Collin Jasper, Tristan Speer and Jay Whetstine all earned All-State from both publications, as Jasper got the nod at End, Speer at quarterback in the Capital Journal and defensive line by Varsity Kansas and Whetstine at linebacker. For the Onaga Buffaloes, senior, Michael Bliss picked up All-State honors at linebacker by the Capital Journal.

At the 8-Man level three more area athletes earned All-State honors after successful seasons. Hanover Wildcat seniors, Andrew Bruna and Ethan Fristchi earned All-State, as Bruna earned All-State at quarterback by Varsity Kansas in 8-Man DI, while Fristchi was All-State defensive line by both publications; both players helped the Wildcats finish the year 12-1 and 8-Man DI Runner-ups. Axtell Eagle senior, Andrew Feldkamp earned All-State at offensive line by the Capital Journal and defensive line by Varsity Kansas after helping Axtell finish the year 9-3 and make the 8-Man DII Sub-State round of the playoffs.

Many other players had great years and earned honorable mention honors in the classes. (All the area honors are listed below.
