D-West, Oskaloosa, Royal Valley & Atchison Compete at Tonganoxie Wrestilng Invite

Multiple Top eight performances were earned on Saturday at the Tonganoxie wrestling tournament on Saturday sending area teams into the holiday break on positive notes.

Of the four area teams Oskaloosa earned the highest team performance of 12 teams the Bears finished fourth on the day with 128.5 points, finishing behind Shawnee Heights (1st), Tonganoxie (2nd) and Louisburg (3rd). Doniphan West, Royal Valley and Atchison all also competed on the day finishing seventh, eighth and tenth, as teams, respectively.

Oskaloosa who picked up the best area team performance were led on the day by Adam Perkins who wrestled his way to a 5-0 record on the day at 220lbs and earned first place. Mark Nickels notched a second place performance for Oskaloosa at 126lbs going 2-2, while both Triston Hopkins (106lbs) and Ben Harvey (170lbs) each picked up a third place finish, going 4-1 and 3-2 on the day, respectively. Seven more Top eight finishes were heard by Oskaloosa grapplers on the day as Jared Miller (145lbs) earned a fourth place, Zach Coleman (285lbs) and Dante Nelson (182lbs) each placed fifth, Griffen Hayden (195lbs) took home sixth and Cody Knight (160lbs), Zachary Thomas (132lbs) and Hannah Nave (120lbs) all earned eighth place.

Doniphan West Mustang grapplers, Garret Dunlap and Kody Collins continue to dominate the competition on the mats this year as both guys posted 4-0 marks to take home first place at the their weight classes of 160lbs and 182lbs, respectively. Kortin Blevins (195lbs) and Lawrence Miller (220lbs) each picked up fifth place finishes, while Gabe Dunn (170lbs) and Zeb Speer (145lbs) both finished sixth place. Malachi Manis (132lbs) and David Shannon (138lbs) both also finished with top eigth showings, placing seventh and eighth, respectively.

Nine Top eight performances were earned by Royal Valley Panther wrestlers on the day, with a pair of fourth place finishes highlighting the Panthers day, as Garrett Rodewald (160lbs) and Jacob Box (182lbs) both picked up a fourth place finish. Tim Martin Jr. (120lbs) and Noah Hart (145lbs) each finished fifth place for the Panthers, while Tewin Rousch (106lbs) and Jerry Coan (138lbs) each notched sixth place finishes. Three guys earned seventh place finishes, as Dalton Ware (106lbs), Cedrick Williams (152lbs) and Blake Garrison (195lbs) each picked up those finishes.

The Atchison Redmen had six Top eight performances, with Spencer Vice at 132lbs posting the best Redmen performance earning second place with a 4-1 record on the day. Andrew Adrian also went 4-1 on the day earning him third place finish for Atchison at 120lbs. Four other Redmen grapplers registered Top eight finishes: Dalton Armstrong (138lbs) fourth place, Arihanna Franklin (113lbs) sixth place, Me'Kenzie Vice (106lbs0) eight place and Alex Bindel (152lbs) eight place.

Teams now head into the holiday break and will look to continue the wrestling season after the calender turns the page into the New Year.
