Every year the National Federation of Coaches Association recognized Coaches across the United States, honoring coaches in each State. This year USD 380 Vermillion (Centralia and Frankfort) had their boy's golf head coach, Brian Ebert earn Coach of the Year honors in the State of Kansas by the NFCA, but also picked up the Coach of the Year in Section 5, a regional honor. The Section 5 covers, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Ebert coached his boy's golf team to the Class 1A State title last year as the team posted a team score of 372 to claim the State championship. Ryan Vernon paced the team with an individual round of 73 to win the individual 1A State title, while Danny Mueting notched a 97 (20th place), Brett Burdiek posted a 100 (27th place), Jason Gore shot a 102 (32nd place), Chase Boyce finished with a 112 and Kobe Rumbo tallied a 132 in competition.
