Sabetha, Perry Lecompton & Marysville Compete at Wamego Boys Golf Invite

Sabetha, Perry Lecompton and Marysville boy’s golf teams teed it up on Tuesday at the Wamego Invitational competing with seven other schools.

It was the Kaws of Perry Lecompton notching the top performance of the day as the Kaws six-man team took home third place with a score of 615, behind Concordia 634 (second) and Abilene who took first with a 519. A tenth place individual performance by Jacob Morgison led the Kaws as he posted a round of 85, while Alex Haynes notched a 94 on the day. Brett Koehler, Dylan Potter, Cooper Busey and Corey Shackelford finished with rounds of 105, 114, 108 and 109, respectively. The Kaws four-man team finished with a score of 392 to take eighth.

For Sabetha the Bluejays a sixth place finish in the four-man competition was the best showing, as the team finished with a 388 score; a score of 314 by Wamego was the top four-man score. In the six-man competition the Bluejays posted a 604 taking eighth. Reese Lierz led the Bluejays with a 92, while two other guys finished with 90 scores, as Connor Epple posted a 95 and Noah Garber notched a 99. Jonah Montgomery, Camden Wegner and Corbin Halls finished out the Sabetha score card with rounds of 102, 107 and 109, respectively.

Marysville took sixth in the six-man competition with a score of 802, while finishing tenth in the four-man team score with a 502. The Bulldogs only had two competitors on the day thus had to take 150 scores for the reminder to fill out team scores. Joe Ellenbecker and Nick Ackerman posted rounds of 87 and 115 for the Bulldogs; Ellenbecker's 87 was just two-strokes off of a Top 10 finish for the day.
