Pawnee City Girls and Hanover Boys Win Valley Heights Inv. Track Titles

The Pawnee City Girls claimed the crown in the Valley Heights Invitational Track Meet Tuesday. Pawnee City scored 133.5 points. Linn was second with 97, Centralia third with 91, Valley Heights 4th with 78.5, Axtell was fifth with 77. The rest of the teams in the field of 11 were Hanover, Randolph Blue Valley, Onaga, Southern, Troy and Franfort.

Hanover won the Boys title with 100 points. Pawnee City was right behind with 95, Franfort was third with 87, Valley Heights was 4th with 81 and fifth was Centralia with 71.5.  The rest in order were Axtell, Linn, Onaga, Southern, Randolph Blue Valley, Troy and St. Xavier. 

Kendra Bergmann of Linn won four gold medals. Bergman won the 100 and 200 meters. She also ran the anchor leg in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays. Joining her in the 4 x 100 were Karsyn Smith, Brooke Diedrich, and Kesiah Thalmann. Rachel Bott and Shelby Ohide joined Thalmann and Bergmann in winning the gold in the 4 x 400. 

Pawnee City event winners included Mariah Willey in the 100 meters and long jump.  Shelby Hundley in the 300 meter hurdles; and Jenna Habegger in the discus;

Sadie Jones of Centralia won the 1600 and 3200 meters. Her teammate Chelsea Huerter won the pole vault. 

Hanover won the 4 x 800 relay. Ashton Jueneman, Ali Sedlacek, Claire Zarybnicky and Pamela Zarybnicky were the winning quartet.

Mariah Deters of Axtell won the high jump clearing 5’6”. 

Valley Heights winners included Kayla Smith in the triple jump and Sidney Blackburn in the shop put and javelin.

For the Boys, Pawnee City event winners were;  Alex Menninga won the 1600 and 800 meters; Cory Kettelhake in the pole vault; Clayton Branek in the shot put.

For Centralia - Darrian Turner  won the 100 meters. 

Hanover winners included: Evan Zabokrtsky in the 200 meters; Preston Jueneman in the 400 meters; The 4 x 100 relay team of Matthew White, Devin Jueneman, Andrew Bruna and Evan Zabokrtsky.

Winner events for Frankfort: Broderic Shirley in the 3200; The 4 x 400 relay team of Riley Ahlvers, Ryan Kraushaar, Alex Roeder and Jacob Studer. 

Elijah Smith of Valley Heights won gold medals in the 110 meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump. He won the triple jump by 14 inches.  

Event winners for Linn were Grant Cook in the discus and javelin and Chad Gross in the high jump. He cleared 6’8” which was a foot better than everyone else.
