Linn Girls & Washington County Boys Win Washington County Track Invite

Four Twin Valley League teams along with Wakefield squared off on the track and in the field events on Tuesday at the Washington County Invitational with the Linn girls and Washington County boys coming out as the top teams on the day.

Led by six first place finishes the Linn lady Bulldogs posted 100 total points at the meet and took first place, with Washington County taking second, Hanover third, Clifton-Clyde fourth and Wakefield fifth. While the Washington County boys took first place as a team with 149 total points and eight event wins on the day. Wakefield boys took second, Hanover third, Linn fourth and Clifton-Clyde fifth.

Washington County on their home track picked up multiple great showings as the boys took first place behind eight first place finishes. Jon Harding earned two of those as he swept the hurdles, winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 17.51 and 45.03. The Tigers 4x400 meter relay team (3:36.94) and Eric Miller also picked up wins on the day, as Miller won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:10.74. In the field events four different Tigers claimed victory as Brett Herrs and Hunter Kier each tossed their way to wins coming in the shot put (54'04) and discus (132'00.25), respectively. While, Kyle Edgar leapt his way to a win in the long jump (19'09.75) and Levi Gauby won the pole vault (12'06).

Three of the lady Tigers four first place finishes came in the field events as Erin Alexander with a toss of 39'11 won the shot put, while Brooke Tuma put up a toss of 113'06 to win the discus and Heidi Stegman had a vault of 9'00 to win the pole vault. Courtney Moore also registered a win for the lady Tigers racing to a time of 16.94 to win the 100 meter hurdles.

It was Kendra Bargman leading the charge for the Linn ladies on their way to the meet win, as Bargman won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.23 and 26.55. The Bulldogs won three more events on the track as the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams posted times of 51.63 and 4:22.08 to take the gold and Kaylie Rahe won the 300 meter hurdles behind a time of 50.36. Shelby Ohlde also brought in a first place finish for Linn, leaping to the win in the high jump with a leap of 5'05. For the Linn boys Chad Gross and Grant Cook each won an event as Gross won the high jump (6'05) and Cook won the javelin (157'09).

Eleven first place finishes highlighted the action for Hanover with Evan Zabokrtsky and Claire Zarybnicky leading the way. Zabokrtsky won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.46 and 22.89, while Zarybnicky paced her way to wins in the 800 and 1600 meter runs notching times fo 2:26.13 and 6:20.38. On the boys side of action for Hanover, Trey Loshe, Preston Jueneman and Devin Jueneman each won an event, too. Loshe raced to the win in the 800 meter run (2:13.96), while Preston Jueneman won the 400 meter dash (52.37) and Devin Jueneman took first in the triple jump (40'01). Hanover boy’s 4x100 meter relay team also earned a gold behind a time of 44.71, while the Hanover girls 4x800 meter relay team won also with a mark of 10:53.06. Paige Doebele won the girls triple jump (31'09.50) for Hanover, while Taylor Klipp won the 400 meter dash (1:09.63).

Clifton-Clyde Eagles were led by a pair of first place performances as Kourtni Hubert won the girls javelin with a toss of 119'02 and Baylie Bowser won the girls 3200 meter run behind a time of 17:46.91.
