Nemaha Central & Several TVL Schools Compete at Republic County Track Invite

Republic County welcomed several area teams to town to compete in track action on Tuesday as the meet is split into lower and upper division based on what classifications each school is in.

In the lower division six Twin Valley League schools competed in action with the Hanover boys and Linn girls bring home first place. Hanover behind eight first place finishes and 121 total points took first place, while Valley Heights finished second with 111 points and Axtell boys grabbed third place with 108 points. The rest of the lower division boys standings had Pike Valley take fourth, Linn fifth, Tescott sixth, Clifton-Clyde seventh and Blue Valley-Randolph eighth. In the girls competition Linn was the only team to finish with over 100 points, tallying 101 to take first place, while Valley Heights nabbed second place with 87 points and Axtell took third with 84 points. The rest of the lower division girls standings had Clifton-Clyde fourth, Hanover fifth, Tescott sixth, Blue Valley-Randolph seventh and Pike Valley eighth.

The upper division featured Nemaha Central, Washington County and Marysville from the area, with the lady Thunder coming out with the best team finishes between the area teams. The lady Thunder took second place with 94 points, finishing only behind Beloit who posted 178.5 total points. Marysville and Washington County girls placed fourth and fifth, respectively while, Minneapolis, Bennington, Republic County and Smith Center finished off the girls teams standings. It was the Washington County boys taking third in highlight the team standings in boys action as they posted 107.5 points, while Smith Center took first (137.33) and Beloit took second (136.33). Nemaha Central boys claimed fourth place and Marysville grabbed fifth, while Republic County, Bennington and Minneapolis finished out the boys standings.

Hanover highlighted the lower division competition as eight first place finishes were earned by the boys including a sweep of the relays, winning the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 43.28, 3:33.73 and 8:51.40. Matthew White, Evan Zabokrtsky, Preston Jueneman and Michael Jueneman won the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meters, as White posted a time of 10.99 to win the 100, Zabokrtsky won the 200 with a time of 23.15, Preston Jueneman won the 400 (50.41) and Michael Jueneman notched the 800 (2:11.62) win. Ethan Fritschi also brought home a gold tossing his way to the shot put (43'03) win. The lady Wildcats lone gold came by the 4x800 meter relay team with a time of 10:52.97 giving them first place.

The Linn Bulldogs had a pair of multi-event winners as Grant Cook and Kendra Bargman won two individual events. Cook tossed his way to the wins in the discus (132'07) and javelin (165'08), while Bargman sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 12.81 and 26.91. Bargman also helped the Bulldogs in the relays as the Linn girls won the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays behind times of 51.59 and 4:26.82. Hanna Bott and Chad Gross each also grabbed gold for Linn in the girl’s javelin (118'01) and boy’s high jump (6'06).

Axtell Eagles brought home six first place finishes on the day in the lower division competition as Mariah Deters led the way leaping to wins in the high jump (5'04) and long jump (16'11.50). Bradie Schimitz and Kiersten Talbot each registered a first place finish on the track in girl’s action winning the 400 meter dash (1:03.88) and 800 meter run (2:39.88), respectively. Jacob Meybrunn and Khristian Scheibe each picked up gold for the Eagles, too winning the 300 meter hurdles (44.12) and pole vault (9'00), respectively.

Elijah Smith continued to perform strong on the track and in the field events winning three more events as he claimed the gold for Valley Heights in the boy’s long jump (21'02.50), triple jump (44'08.50) and 110 meter hurdles (14.80). Adrain Pishny paced his way to the 3200 meter run win with a time of 10:21.38. In girl’s action Kayla Smith, Sidney Blackburn and Shelby Vermetten each picked up a gold winning the triple jump (34'09), discus (118'05) and shot put (36'08), respectively.

Clfiton-Clyde Eagles, Elizabeth Nobert registered a first place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (49.72) for the only Eagles first place on the day, while Blue Valley had their lone first place finishes come by Georgia Hatesohl who won the 100 meter hurdles (16.06) and the pole vault (7'06) .

In the upper division competition the Nemaha Central Thunder were led by a trio of first place performances as Kaley Dalinghaus tossed her way to the win in the discus (113'07), Shaylyn Stallbaumer also tossed her way to a win in the javelin (128'08) and Jacob Keolzer sprinted his way to the gold in the 100 meter dash (10.94).

Washington County Tigers had a trio of guys pick up first place finishes as Cole Thompson won the 200 meter dash (23.55), Dylan Hodgson took first in the 800 meter run (2:02.22) and Logan Kier won the discus (141'11). Erin Alexander also tossed her way to the win in the shot put with a toss of 113'07.

Marysville was led by four first place performances as Joe Smith won the boys 1600 meter run (4:49.69), Aubrie Peschel took first in the 1600 meter run (6:03.39), Chloe Cudney grabbed for first in the long jump (16'06.50) and the lady Bulldogs 4x800 meter relay team took the gold with a time of 10:47.54.
