Sabetha Girls & Holton Boys Take Top Spots at Holton Track Invite

Three area teams in Holton, Sabetha and Jackson Heights along with Rock Creek competed on Tuesday against each other in track and field action and it was the Sabetha lady Bluejays and the Holton Wildcat boys claiming the top spots.

Behind 185 total points the Sabetha lady Bluejays took home the top spot between the four teams competing at the Holton Invitational, winning by 68 points. Rock Creek took second with 117 points, just two-points ahead of Jackson Heights who finished third, while Holton took fourth. The host Holton Wildcats took the top spot in the boy’s competition with 167.50 points, finishing 38 points ahead of Jackson Heights for second place. Sabetha and Rock Creek boys finished third and fourth as teams.

The hosts Holton Wildcats were led by 11first place finishes on the day at their home meet. Indie Allen leapt his way to the win both the long jump (20'01) and triple jump (43'05.50), while Will Wright sprinted to the win in the 400 meter dash (52.72) and Luis Butto won the 300 meter hurdles (44.31). The Wildcat boys also claimed the gold in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 45.50 and 3:39.46; the lady Wildcats also won the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays posting times of 51.28 and 4:28.75. Kimmie Snepp and Holly Karn each registered first place finishes on the day, as Snepp won the 100 meter dash (12.55) and Karn won both the 100m hurdles (15.96) and 300 meter hurdles (52.24).

Five first place performances led the Sabetha girls to their first place team performance as Rhianna Becker, Heidi Heiniger and Meagan Garrett each won a field event. Becker tossed her way to the win in the discus (101'02), Heiniger posted a toss of 126'01 to win the javelin and Garrett leapt to the in the high jump (5'06). Nicole Brey also picked up a win for the lady Bluejays notching a time of 26.87 to win the 200 meter dash, while the lady Bluejays also won the 4x800 meter relay (10:48.36). On the boys side of competition Keegan Cox led the Bluejays by taking gold in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 4:51.71 and 11:11.11, while Treavor Schmelzle, Jacob Leuthold and Christian Meyer each won a field events. Schmelzle posted a toss of 153'02.25 to win the javelin, while Leuthold won the shot put with a toss of 45'07 and Christian Meyer won the pole vault with a vault of 10'00.25.

Jackson Heights Cobras were led by Kaitlynn Little who paced her way to wins in the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:34.80 and 5:45.02, while Becca Gibson won the girls shot put with a toss of 34'00.50. In the boys action the Cobras won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:03.68 and Seth Holliday won the 800 meter run after registering a time of 2:06.87.
