Pawnee City Girls and Syracuse Boys Win Irish Inv. Track Meet

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee City Girls and the Syracuse Boys were the champions of the Irish Inv. Track Meet held in  Syracuse this week. 

The Pawnee City girls scored 117 points for the top spot, Conestoga was second with 104.5. Syracuse was third with 80.5; Sterling was fifth with 48.5, Sacred Heart was seventh, scoring 26.5 points in the 12 team field.

The Rocket boys had 137 points, Sacred Heart was second with 66, Pawnee City third with 56. Sterling tied for 6th with 46.

Girls event winners included:

For Pawnee City – Mariah Willer – long jump and 100 meter hurdles;

Jenna Habegger – shot put and discus.

Shelby Hundley – 300 meter hurdles; 

Sacred Heart – Maggie Goltz – triple jump;  

Sterling – Taylor Cockerill – 800 meters and 1600 meters.

Syracuse – Kayla Arnold – 3200

4x800 relay team.

Sarah Antes – pole vault; 

Boys event winners included: 

Sacred Heart – Sawyer Kean – 100 meter dash – tie the meet record of 11.00 set in 1998 by Anthony Harms of Filley.

4 x 100 relay team of Austin Malone, Henry Arnold, Keith Salimo and Kean. 

Bryan Jorn – shot put.

Pawnee City – Clayton Branek – discus.

Sterling – 4 x 800 relay

Syracuse- Jonathan Cox – 2000 meters; 

Tanner Harsin – 1600 meters;

Braxtyn DeGolyer – 110 meter hurdles 300 meter hurdles.

Jake Heitkamp – high jump & long jump

Peyton Harsin – pole vault
