The Jeff West Tiger baseball team remained perfect in the Big 7 League and improved to 11-1 overall on Thursday night with a pair of comeback wins at Holton.  The Wildcats jumped to 2-0 leads in both contests but were not able to maintain the advantage or recover once they fell behind.

Final scores were 13-6 and 6-3.

In the frist game, Holton got a home run from Derreck Haverkamp and led 2-0 into the third inning.  Jeff West took a 4-2 advantage in the fourth and then erupted for 8 runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Jared Ice.  Trailing 12-2, the Wildcats avoided a run-rule with an RBI hit by Indie Allen to make it 12-4.  Justin Rieschick added a two-run double in the sixth before the Tigers secured the 13-6 victory with Cohl Bohannan finishing the pitching victory and Skylar Callahan going the first five frames for the win.

In game two, Holton got a two-run single by Indie Allen and maintained a 2-0 advantage until the fourth inning.  Jeff West pieced together five hits and scored three runs to take the lead for good.  The Tigers added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings while pitcher Jacob Lawhorn took control on the mound and retired 11 Holton batters in a row.  The Wildcats got their first two runners on with singles in the final two innings, but only scored one run before falling to 5-7 on the season.  Rieschick had two of the six Holton hits and pitched all seven innings allowing 6 runs on 10 hits with 7 strikeouts and only 2 walks.  The Tigers got a pair of hits and runs scored from both Grady Middendorff and Jared Ice, while Matthew Hamon had a couple RBI in the game two victory.  Eight of the nine Jeff West players had a hit in the night cap and the Tigers did not committ any errors as they took a commanding lead a top of the Big 7 League baseball standings.
