Several NEKL Schools & ACCHS Compete at Pleasant Ridge Track Invite

It took two days because of Mother Nature but several area teams from the Northeast Kansas League, along with ACCHS and a few other schools took part in the Pleasant Ridge track Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

When the action wrapped up on Tuesday it was the Jefferson County North lady Chargers and the boys from Christ Prep Academy claiming the top team spots. A total of 132 points won the meet title for the lady Chargers of JCN as they won by 23 points over Christ Prep who took second, while Maur Hill-Mount Academy placed third. Oskaloosa and Pleasant Ridge finished out the Top five girls team standings finishing fourth and fifth, while the rest of the team standings had McLouth take sixth, ACCHS seventh, Immaculata eighth and Lansing ninth. For the boys a 116 total points was enough for the meet title for Christ Prep as they won by 19 points over second place, Pleasant Ridge, while JCN boys took third only four points behind the Rams for second. Maur Hill and McLouth finished out the Top five in the boys team standings finishing fourth and fifth, while the rest of the team standings had Oskaloosa take sixth, ACCHS seventh, Lansing eighth and Immaculata ninth.

Four first place performances by JCN lady Chargers helped them win the meet as Gabbi George, Kaylee Page, Ella Weishaar and Ravyn Jobbins each registered wins on the day. George tossed her way to the win in the shot put (34'08), while Page won the pole vault (8'00), Weishaar took first in the javelin (97'10) and Jobbins notched the best leap in the high jump (4'06). On the boys side the Chargers picked up three event crowns as Brayden Summers won the 1600 meter run (4:53.67) and Gavin Polson won the discus (104'03), while the Chargers throwers relay team posted a time of 55.20 to win the throwers relay.

The host Pleasant Ridge Rams had five event wins at their home track meet with four coming in the boys action. In the field events Jagar Haack posted a toss of 44'09 to win the shot put, while Colton Doty registered a toss of 147'01 to win the javelin. On the track, Matt Smith won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.37, while the Rams 4x100 meter relay team took the gold with a time of 45.27. The lady Rams 4x100 meter relay team also claimed gold after posting a time of 52.80.

Nic Caudle led the highlights of the meet for Maur Hill as he won three events, himself, claiming first place in the triple jump (39'06), 400 meter dash (52.58) and 200 meter dash (23.86). In the girls competition the Ravens were led by first place times of 10:28.02 and 4:18.36 in the 4x800 and 4x400 meter relays.

For Oskaloosa it was a win in the boy’s 300 meter hurdles (44.14) by Dillon Grother and wins by Maddison Miller and CJ Kilgo in the girl’s discus (105'10) and 300 meter hurdles (51.30), respectively that led the way.

While the McLouth Bulldogs also had three event winners at the Pleasant Ridge Invitational as Anna Moore won the girls 100 meter dash (13.36), Remington Courter placed first in the boys long jump (19'07) and Jack Arnett took first in the boy’s 110 meter hurdles (17.24).

ACCHS Tigers came home with gold medals by Josh Weaver and Madison Bissell coming in the boy’s high jump (6'02) and girl’s 400 meter dash (1:01.49).
