Immaculata & TVL teams Lead Area Performances at 1A Boys State Golf

Golfers in Class 1A teed it up one final time for the 2015 season on Tuesday as they took to a local course with Seneca's Spring Creek golf course hosting the 1A boy's golf State competition this year.

At the end of the day it was an area team from the Northeast Kansas League leading the way for the performances as Immaculata claimed the team title and the individual crown, too. Behind a team score of 360 the Raiders brought home the Class 1A State golf title winning by six-strokes over Hodgeman County. Dawson Schroeder led the way for Immaculata by winning the individual State title claiming first place with a round of 75, while his teammate Evin Wheaton finished fifth with an 83. Max Campbell and Ian Wheaton finished out the four-man Raider team score after posting rounds of 99 and 103, respectively to finish 27th and 39th individually. Jacob Murphy and Justin Varney also competed for Immaculata placing 43rd (105) and 45th (106) out of 80 competitors.

Centralia took home third place out of 11 teams at State and finished only nine-strokes behind Immaculata for first place. The Panthers were led by Sean Rempe and Ryan Vernon who finished 13th and 14th, respectively after rounds of 88 and 90. Rounds of 95 and 96 by Danny Mueting and Jason Gore finished out Centralia's team score of 369 and were good for 21st and 23rd invidiually. Kobe Rumbo and Chase Boyce both also were in action for Centralia posting rounds of 110 and 129 to finish 51st and 68th, respectively.

Valley Heights also had a team qualify for State and the Mustangs posted a team score of 490 finishing 11th out of 11 teams in Class 1A. Payton Manley led the Mustangs with a round of 100 on the day earning 29th place individually, while Bryan Yungeberg, Quentin Blaske and Katlynn Treff notched rounds of 123, 133 and 134, respectively to finish 65th, 72nd and 73rd.

Frankfort Wildcat, Marshall Ruetti carded a round of 102 to place 33rd, while Linn and Hanover had golfers in action at State, also. Andrew Meyer finished 41st for Linn with a round of 104, while his teammate Kalen Richardson placed 75th with a round of 136. For Hanover, Aaron Hendrickson placed 79th after posting a round of 154.
