Four Northeast Kansas League legion teams hit the diamond on Tuesday with a pair in non-league action the other two squaring off in a League double header.

Both Sabetha and Seneca took on non-league opponents as Sabetha traveled to Auburn, NE and Seneca welcomed Marysville to town. Errors hurt Sabetha as they suffered a 7-2 loss to Auburn, while Seneca routed Marysville 11-1 in four innings.

In League action Atchison hosted Oskaloosa and earned the sweep with 8-0 and 10-0 wins.

Errors Plague Sabetha in Road Loss to Auburn

Sabetha went out on the road Tuesday and took on Auburn (NE) and struggled with defense and offense in the contest falling 7-2.

Sabetha pitchers only gave up six hits as Alec Kirwan, Blake Popkess & Anthony Martin each pitched two innings but it was the eight errors by the Sabetha defense that hurt them as Auburn capitalized.  Only two of the runs scored by Auburn were earned in the contest as the rest were result of errors in one way or the other.

Sabetha's offense also struggled as they didn't break through offensively until the seventh, scoring a pair of runs with two outs on a Popkess single and a Preston Bruning infield single.

The loss sends Sabetha to 5-18 overall on the season and they hit the diamond again on Wednesday at home against Hiawatha in a League double header. (6:00pm game will be broadcasted on 103.9 KNZA)

Seneca Routes Marysville at Home Behind Strong Offensive Showing

The offense produced and pitching was solid as Seneca cruised to the four inning win on Tuesday night at home against Marysville, winning 11-1.

Marysville struck first with a run in the first inning, but Seneca would ultimately out-hit Marysville 13-2 and scoring seven in third and four more in the fourth to finish the game. During the seven run third, Seneca posted seven of their 13 hits and Devin Henry blasted a three run homer. Henry finished 1-2 with the home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk, while Alex Rottinghaus went 3-3 with three runs scored and Dustin Rottinghaus and Andrew Oller each had two hits. Oller also picked up the win on the mound going all four innings, surrendering one run on two hits, three walks and a hit batter, while striking out seven.

The win pushes Seneca to 14-4 on the season and they will get back to action on Wednesday at home as they host Frankfort for a League double header that was rescheduled for earlier this season.
