On Saturday six Northeast Kansas area football stars took to the football field one final time as a high school player to represent their school along with several other top players from across the State in the 42nd annual Kansas Shrine Bowl game this year in Hays.

At the end of the night five of the six area players helped the East team pick up the 21-0 win over the West in this year's Kansas Shrine Bowl game. Axtell Eagle, Andrew Feldkamp, Centralia Panther, Joey Ferron, Holton Wildcat, Cooper Allen, Horton Charger, Trey Dishon and Troy Trojan, Tristan Speer all helped the East pick up the win, while Hanover Wildcat, Ethan Fritschi was in action for the West.

The East took the initial lead and ultimately scoring the only points needed for a win as Shawnee Heights product, Tony Barksdale Jr. broke free for a 10-yard touchdown run with 6:14 left in the first quarter to give the East a 7-0 lead. The East pulled out some trick plays and with a halfback pass from Barksdale that was caught and taken down to the three-yard line, but the East fumbled on the next play spoiling their opportunity. In the second quarter Barksdale would give the East a 14-0 lead as he caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Topeka high product, Alec Beatty.

In the second half it was Tristan Speer of Troy giving the East a 21-0 lead as he hit Dalton Schoen of Blue Valley Northwest for an 84-yard touchdown pass. Speer finished the game 2-2 for 89 yards and a touchdown.

The East proved to be dominant in the game outgaining the West 336 to 136 total yards.
