Class AAA State Tournament (at McPherson) bracket - click here

Postseason play started off on a shaky foot for Oskaloosa but the River Bandits responded with three straight wins and earned a spot in the Class AAA legion baseball State tournament this year in McPherson.

Oskaloosa opened Zone tournament play as week at Atchison by falling to fellow Northeast Kansas League team in Atchison in the opening round losing 5-2, putting them on the brink of elimination and seeing their season end. The River Bandits responded with three straight victories in two-days as they staved off elimination with a 9-3 win over Pittsburg last Wednesday and then followed that up with wins over Atchison 10-5 and Chanute 4-2 to finish as runner-up in the Northeast AAA Zone at Atchison and qualify for State.

State is set to start on Wednesday, July 29th in McPherson at Grant Sports Complex (1800 North Main St.) and Oskaloosa with their 18-17 record will face off against the Southwest AAA Zone winner in Great Bend in the opening round at 5:00pm. The action on Wednesday in McPherson will start at 11:00am with Newton versus Wichita, followed by Garden City versus Ottawa and the matchup of Emporia versus McPherson will finish off the night as the second half of the nightcap after Oskaloosa's contest.

A win in the opening round would push Oskaloosa along in the winner's bracket to a matchup against the winner of Emporia and McPherson at 7:30pm on July 30th. While a loss in the opening round would put Oskaloosa on the brink of elimination having to play the loser of Emporia/McPherson at 1:30pm to staying alive in the double elimination AAA State tournament.
