Sabetha Girls Tennis Continues Strong Start to Season & Wins Hayden Quad

After a strong start to the season for the Sabetha girl’s tennis team by winning the Wamego Invitational the Bluejays hit the court again on Thursday at the Hayden Quad in Topeka and won the Quad with a 12-0 day in competition.

In singles competition both Lexi Wenger and Courtney Plattner remain unbeaten on the season as they each went 3-0 in competition at the Hayden Quad. For Wenger in Singles number one action she posted an 8-0 win over the Baldwin competitor, a 8-1 win over the St. James competitor and 5-0 default win over the Hayden tennis player. Plattner in Singles number two competition earned the 8-1 win over a St. James competitor, while winning 8-4 against the Hayden competitor and won a tight matchup against the Baldwin competitor, claiming the win 8-7 (7-3).

Doubles action featured the tandem of Jena Winkler and Nicole Brey remaining unbeaten on the season for Sabetha by going 3-0 with an 8-0 win over Baldwin, 8-3 victory against Hayden and a tight 8-7 (8-6) win against St. James, coming in Doubles number one competition. In the Doubles number two competition the team of Lauren Edelman and Savanna Metzger posted a 3-0 day, also picking up an 8-2 win against Baldwin and tough 8-7 (7-4) victory against St. James and against Hayden 8-1.

The Bluejays in all competition this season are a combined 28-0 with their singles and doubles competitors and look to continue their early season momentum next Wednesday, September the 9th at the Topeka-Seaman Invitational.
