Centralia Completes Unbeaten Regular Season, Dominates Cobras
By Justin Fluke

It didn't take long at all for Centralia-Wetmore to strut their power and race to a 61-8 victory against Jackson Heights on Friday night at John Riggins Family Field.  After the stout Panther defense forced a three-and-out to start the game, Sam Steinlage returned a punt 53 yards for the opening score and the home team was off and running.  Steinlage would score on Centralia's first offensive play on a 47 yard run and the next time he  touched the ball he went 29 yards for another score to make it 21-0.  Then, it was J.T. Rosine's turn as the Panther quarterback scored on three straight offensive plays and the Panthers led 41-0 before Darrian Turner sprinted 74 yards with :31 left in the half and the game outcome not in doubt at 48-0.  Jackson Heights ran 18 plays to just 3 for Centralia to open the game, but the Cobras never crossed mid-field and the Panthers scored off 6 of their 12 plays in the first half.  Rosine added a fourth rushing touchdown early in the third quarter and the starters were done for the night as Rosine had 94 yards with 4 touchdowns while Turner (4-101) and Steinlage (4-113) crossed the century mark with only 4 carries each.  Jonathan Johnson scored the last touchdown for Centralia to make it 61-0 with :32 left in the third.

Jackson Heights (6-3), who had won three straight, avoided becoming the fifth shutout victim of the stingy Panther defense as the Cobras got a 55 yard run from Dakota Teter that set up a two yard score by freshman quarterback Zane Richter with 7:37 to play.  Jackson Heights, had already qualified for the post-season for the first time since 2006 and will travel to play DVL foe McLouth on Friday in the Regional round of the 2A playoffs.  The two teams did not meet in the regular season, the Bulldogs are 8-1 with a one-point loss to Olpe and won their district with a 48-6 thumping of Immaculata on Friday.  The Jackson Heights at McLouth game Friday, November 2nd will be aired live on KNZA 103.9 FM and here on www.mscsports.net

Centralia (9-0) begins their 2A State Championship Title defense with an 18 game winning streak, the longest in the state, and will host DVL member Jeff County North on Friday at 7:00 PM.  The Panthers have not allowed more than one score since week one of the season.
