KSHSAA has released the classifications for the 2015-16 athletic year for all sports other than football and also released 2016-18 football classifications.
Five area schools are changing classifications for the 2015-16 school year with four moving down and one moving up. Big Seven League schools Royal Valley and Perry Lecompton are moving down to Class 3A in all sports, while Horton is moving down to Class 2A and Valley Heights is moving up to Class 2A. Twin Valley League school, Onaga is moving down to Class 1A.
In the football classifications 11 schools are on the move for the 2016-18 football seasons. Both Royal Valley and Perry Lecompton are moving down to Class 3A for football, while Immaculata will continue to partner with Maranatha for football and will be moving to 3A as a program. Four area schools are moving down to Class 2-1A for football as Centralia, McLouth and Washington County are moving back down and Horton will transition down to Class 2-1A, also. At the 8-Man level both Onaga and Valley Falls will transition from 11-Man to 8-Man next year and compete in the 8-Man Division I level. While, Hanover moves down to 8-Man Division II next year and Wetmore is added as an 8-Man program at the varsity level and will be competing in the Division II level.
