Eight Area Teams Ranked In Latest Kansas Cross Country Poll

As the cross country season continues to roll along several area teams and runners have put together top notch performances and eight teams are ranked in the latest rankings released by the Kansas Cross Country Coaches Association. 

Four area boy’s teams and four girls teams find themselves in the rankings as the cross country season heads into its final month of the season. 

In the boys rankings the Pleasant Ridge Rams out of the Northeast Kansas League check in at number three in the latest poll as the rank Top seven teams in each classification. The Rams will be in action on again coming up on Thursday, October 1st at the Perry Lecompton Invitational. 

Class 1A houses three Twin Valley League boy’s teams in the Top seven rankings as Frankfort, Valley Heights and Axtell are ranked fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. All three squads have had strong performances throughout the season with multiple Top 10 finishes. The season rolls along for all three schools on Saturday, October 3rd as they will all compete at the Centralia Invitational. 

In the girls rankings the Atchison lady Red come in tied with Tonganoxie for sixth in the rankings and after most recently competing at Rim Rock, will be in action again on Thursday at the Perry Lecompton Invitational. 

A pair of Big Seven League schools are ranked in Class 3A in the girls poll as Hiawatha and ACCHS come in at fourth and sixth; the Tigers are tied with Riley County for sixth. Both the Red Hawks and Tigers will continue the cross country season on Thursday at the Horton Invitational. 

The top ranking by an area team comes in Class 1A in the girl’s poll as the Centralia Panthers come in ranked second. Centralia will host a meet on Saturday with several other area teams to continue their season.
